Vibrant Souls…"healing and inspiration"

By Tracy Hutchinson, Founder

In the four days following the 9.11 attacks on America I walked through my life with heaviness that was brought on by the images in my head of the violent way the people in the planes, the Pentagon, and the World Trade Center died. It was difficult to focus on what was happening in my everyday life because it all seemed so insignificant in comparison to what others were experiencing. Wives looking for their husbands, mothers faced with the possibility of never seeing their sons or daughters again and children left parentless.

On the fifth day I arose sluggishly for my daily walk thinking about forsaking it completely, but I considered that one of those vibrant souls taken from us, might love to take a walk through an amazing city like San Francisco. As I stepped out onto the sidewalk I felt compelled to dedicate that particular walk to an anonymous victim of the tragic event. That simple act energized and gave me a sense of purpose. I remembered seeing Maya Angelou on the Oprah show as she appealed to us to not forget “the ones” that we lost. It was as if she was speaking directly to me when she said “We lost many you-s and me-s.” I pondered how do we remember the “ones”, how do we honor and pay tribute to each individual that was taken?

I began to consider the many other lives cut short by noticeable tragic events like the Oklahoma Federal Building, the hate-crime murders of Matthew Sheppard and James Byrd, and the bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Africa. I wondered how the rest of the world regards these victims. Like myself, others might find it difficult to avoid thinking about the horrific way these people died. One possible solution is not to think of them at all, but that’s not honoring them. So what do we think of? I believe focusing on how they lived and those aspects of their lives that brought them joy. Find out what they were up to in life and what they left unfinished, or incomplete if you will? What if the people of the world were to carry on these joys and take on completing those unfulfilled dreams?

Please take this opportunity to connect with a Vibrant Soul and consider finishing what they left incomplete or do something that brought them joy and see if it brings you the same joy. You might even experience a greater sense of joy because it was done to honor them. Furthermore, I invite you to live the rest of your life in such a way that you begin today to complete your own unfulfilled dreams.

I am grateful to you for taking the time to read my message. It is the mission of Vibrant Souls to create a powerful place for healing and inspiration and your actions can help us to fulfill this mission.

Thank you!
